Today my morning walk was extended from the regular 30 minutes to 45 minutes due to the EU Summit! And I was not prepared for it. Every morning when walking to work, I have to walk across the place where the EU Commission and European Council stand. This morning it was not possible! The streets were closed with loads of police officers watching the area. I haven’t been exploring too much of Brussels yet and I had to ask one of the officers how to get to the other side, because I couldn’t get through, I couldn’t walk under, I couldn’t walk over! Immediately, the children’s song of “Leijonaa mä metsästän” started playing in my head (!)
Police officers everywhere!Today I got an invitation to babysit a few times a month. Hopefully, I will get to do it! I love children and get along with them just perfect. Yay! Tralalalalalallaaa! I miss my own godchildren!
The Euopean Parliament
After work we went to Place du Luxembourg via The European Parliament (outside) to have a few beers with the other interns. We found a bar where out of coincidence the Danish people, that live in the house as I do, also were. After that we walked to Ixelles and found a restaurant where to eat. We were mighty surprised with Veera, who also took the same dish as I did, when we got our plates in front of us. We were supposed to get a rare steak each. Or that’s what we thought we ordered. Instead we got completely raw meat, as in tartar beef. Hmm… Allright, it tasted good, but I certainly could feel the next day that I had been eating raw meat. And they showed handball on the TV in the restaurant, yay!
